How AI is used
When you choose AI meal scanning, BiteBuddy asks Google Gemini Paid Services to identify visible food and estimate portions, calories, and macronutrients. The result is an estimate—not medical or dietary advice—and you can review and correct every value before logging it.
What data is sent
BiteBuddy sends only a re-encoded image of the meal after removing EXIF and location metadata. Your name, email, BiteBuddy account ID, precise location, historical entries, and Battle history are not sent with the image.
Model training and provider handling
Google states that prompts and responses submitted through Gemini Paid Services are not used to improve its products. BiteBuddy uses inline content and does not create a Gemini File, cache, corpus, or other provider-side user resource. Google may retain limited prompts and responses for a short period for abuse prevention, security, or legal obligations under its paid-service terms.
Storage and deletion
BiteBuddy deletes the original food image after inference and retains only the minimum scan-job and estimate records needed for reliability, correction, security, and account history. Account deletion removes or anonymizes BiteBuddy-held scan records and is propagated to applicable subprocessors. Because BiteBuddy does not create a provider-managed file or user-data resource for inline Gemini inference, there is no separate Gemini file-deletion request to submit.
Your consent and choices
The scan begins only after you accept the current disclosure and deliberately submit a photo. You may decline, enter meals manually, withdraw optional consent, correct an estimate, or request account deletion. Material changes to this disclosure require a new consent version.
